I understand your point, but it's hardly the best example of a soundtrack that doesn't get in the way.

Red Alert(1) from 1996 got a 'soundtrack of the year' award. Initially I was puzzled by that. It has a few great tracks, but not amazing. Until you play the soundtrack in a loop. The tracks are very atmospheric and totally unobtrusive.

Another soundtrack by Frank Klepacki - Tiberian Sun - is also not something you would play on a concert. But it serves a perfect background, too.

Then I understood there's more to a great game soundtrack than very memorable tunes. XCOM2 soundtrack is optimized for short term, for trailers even. Red Alert 1, Tiberian Sun soundtracks are optimized for long term, to be loopable.

I need to get in touch with newer games, but I have very fond memories of Master of Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic 1-4, Magic Carpet, Dungeon Keeper1,2; Little Big Adventure. Those were definitely special and music was a big part of it.

From newer games I appreciate Rimworld. It may be inspired by country and Firefly, but it's something I'm happy to play on a loop.

Incidentally ambient music artists are some of my favorites. I love programming while listening to the British band Fluke (on youtube) or even Orbital. Even ayahuasca shamanic songs.

Knights of Columbus Council 14129 invites all Catholic men of St. Mary’s parish to join us at our monthly Into the Breach video series and discussion via ZOOM. Into the Breach is a 12-episode video series produced by the Knights of Columbus and found at www.kofc.org/en/campaigns/into-the-breach.html. This video series seeks to answer the question of what it means to be a man and how to live as a Catholic man in today’s world. Each episode focuses on a different aspect of authentic Catholic masculinity and features interviews with well-known Catholic commentators, as well as the personal story of a man who has deeply experienced the episode’s topic in his own life. Each episode runs approximately 12 minutes. The 12 episodes are titled: Masculinity, Brotherhood, Leadership, Fatherhood, Family, Life, Prayer, Suffering, Sacramental Life, Spiritual Warfare, Evangelization, and The Cornerstone.

The goal of Into the Breach is to help men grow in their faith and become the men that God is calling them to be. Much of our modern culture is beset by misunderstanding and contention about what it means to be a man. Many men receive mixed messages concerning who they are and what their role is. Into the Breach contends that men are made for greatness and the true expression of that greatness is to be heroically virtuous—and that Catholic masculinity means to have character marked by goodness and truth, strength and courage, in imitation of Christ.

Monthly Into the Breach ZOOM meetings will be held on the third or fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm. Meeting dates for the current fraternal year as follows: 9/23/2020, 10/28/2020, 11/18/2020, 12/16/2020, 1/27/2021, 2/24/2021, 3/24/2021, 4/28/2021, 5/26/2021, and 6/23/2021.
